Braun Electric Shaver Buying Guide

Braun are one of the most well known and respected manufacturers of foil based shavers. They continue to showcase innovation and well built products backed up by a very comprehensive after-sales service. As with all other manufacturers we deal with we are also Authorised Service Agents so are able to provide you with help for the full life of any products purchased with us.

Braun produces a range of foil shavers to suit all pockets and requirements, right up to the new clean and charge based shavers. The Series 7 models are very popular at the moment, industry leading technology and blades developed by Gillette set it apart from the competition. The Series 3 and 5 range offer less exotic features but are based on many years of Braun electric shaver development. Whichever one you choose you should find the performance you are looking for.

Generally, by moving up to a higher range you will find more advanced features and cutting heads.

The New Braun Series - Launched autumn 2008

The Braun Series range represents the latest selection of Braun Shavers. Arranged in recognisable Series number scheme 1, 3, 5 and 7 similar to another well known German manufacturer.

As you move up the Series number the feature list increases and the shave quality becomes more refined.

Build quality and reliability is however consistently high across all ranges. Still manufactured and assembled in Germany, Braun products renowned for their quality and after-sales backup.

Braun Series 7

The Braun Series 7 range was released autumn 2008 and offers the new top of the range shavers by Braun. The Series 7 design takes the best features from the previous 360 Complete, scrutinises, updates and re-implements them in a brand new design. This is right down to the microprocessor that controls the shaver, a new platform that will form the base for future models to come.

It also brings a host of technology unique to this Braun shaver range. The most interesting being the "Linear Drive" motor for a constant, high speed 10,000 oscillations per minute, much faster than previous models. A great side effect of this technology is that the shaver will run at a constant speed until the rechargeable cells are empty. On a regular shaver you may notice some slow down as the cells near the end of their charge.

You will also find this kind of motor in the very popular Panasonic Linear Drive models. We have long been of the opinion that this kind of drive system combined with the advanced Braun foil would be fantastic combination. The high speed gives a very comfortable, smooth shave with no pulling or snagging of the hair, just a clean, accurate cut!

A very important point to consider is that this range also bares the Gillette blade technology badge, sign enough of this shaver's pedigree.

Series 7 Range

Braun Series 5

The Braun Series 5 range was released autumn 2008 and offers the best combination of performance, features and value.

It offers an advanced shaving head designed to catch stray hairs and reduce the number of strokes needed per shave. This is combined with a contour following feature to help keep the cutting surface in contact with the skin as much as possible while shaving.

All models are washable and feature a long hair trimmer.

Like the Series 7, the Series 5 also includes blades featuring Gillette technology.

Series 5 Range

Braun Series 3

The Braun Series 3 range was released autumn 2008 and gives you performance and shave quality similar to the higher models but slightly less features. The most notable difference is that on certain models you do not get the pivoting, contour following shaving head.

You do however get the same fundamental high Braun build quality as the most expensive model and you do get a great shave at a fantastic price point with tried and tested Braun technology.

All models are washable and feature a long hair trimmer.

Series 1 Range

Braun Non-Series Shavers

These models are the remainder of our stock following Braun rebranding to the 'Series' naming convention. In most cases they are the same model in different packaging. The prices are keen and the shave quality high, snap up a bargain!

Braun Pulsonic

The Pulsonic range is essentially the same as the Series 7. When Braun recently introduced new models lower down the model range they re-aligned the naming of the whole range to fit nicely into 'Series' numbers. The Pulsonic is now the Series 7. Any Pulsonic models still in stock represent great value as they often feature a big price reduction due to the previous style packaging.

Braun 360 Complete

The 360 Complete is based heavily on the Activator and really is an evolution of the existing models. The main difference is an updated foil and cutter designed. 360 Complete models offer a top of the range experience, both in terms of shaving performance and those extra touches such as LCD display offering full shaver status.

They also feature an updated cleaning system, smaller and more compact than the previous Syncro version.

Braun Activator

The Activator range of shavers offer Braun's top end performance and features. At the moment we have the 8583 Activator model one offer and it represents excellent value for money considering the usual retail and what is normally available at this offer price.

Braun Syncro Pro

The Syncro range offers you many advantages over the lower specification Flex XP range. You benefit from a Clean and Charge system similar to that found in the Activator and 360 Complete ranges. You also have the advantage of the newer style of patterned foil along with a micro vibrating head assembly.

Braun Contour

A new release for 2006, this is Braun's latest range of twin foil shavers with the contour following, swivel head assembly. A new addition is a new foil pattern, the same as is used on the more expensive Syncro and 360 Complete modles. This "smart foil" is designed to capture hairs growing at a greater range of angles in a single stroke, hopefully for a smoother, faster shave. It doesn't however have the vibrating head assembly and upgraded integral foil trimmer found on more expensive models.

Braun Flex XP

This is tried and tested Braun technology, twin foil with contour following, swivel head assembly. Many existing users will have used something similar and the current examples are now available at a more affordable, mid range price point. If you previous model was a top end version you might benefit from looking at the Activator or 360 Complete.

Braun TriControl

TriControl offers the benefits of twin foil shaving complete with an integral longer hair trimmer. It does not feature the contour following swivel head assembly but is priced to reflect this.

Braun Cruzer

The main feature of the Cruzer range and the most popular model, the Cruzer 3 is the stubble beard facility. The Cruzer 3 comes with a comb attachment designed to limit the closeness when using the wider of the long hair trimmers. The length is around 1-2mm, probably a little more than that 5 o'clock shadow look.

The standard Cruzer doesn't have this comb attachment but both models feature a small and large long hair trimmer blade, the small trimmer being used for detail work.

Braun FreeControl

The FreeControl gives you single foil shaving with a great slide up trimmer. Mains and rechargeable is available with 1 hour charging yet still maintaining its budget conscious pricing. Great build quality regardless of price helps Braun stand out from the crowd.

Braun Interface

The Interface models are great value single foil shavers. They have a range of power options from manis only to mains and rechargeable. Although lower in cost you still get the great Braun build quality and a simple shaver that will perform to high modern standards.
