Choose Your Electric Shaver With Ease!

Choosing the right Electric Shaver needn't be difficult. With so many models on offer we hopefully have something to suit all needs. We have some great prices on the very latest shavers as well as some excellent specific model promotions.

Consider the Intended User

Consider what you or the person you are buying for has been using in the past. If there is a particular brand of electric shaver that is familiar and gives good results then this is often a good indicator of where to start looking. For example if a person is happy with the shave they get from a rotary based Philishave then changing to a foil based shaver like a Braun or Panasonic isn't always the best option. Obviously this works both ways foil to rotary and vice versa.

This is not to say that it is never worth changing shaver style, modern shavers offer excellent results with most people given the time to adjust and bed the shaver in. If you feel you may benefit from switching or maybe have tried different styles in the past then go for it!

Decide Mains, Rechargeable or Both

Decide whether you want a mains, rechargeable or more commonly both features in your shaver. Never buy a battery shaver for everyday use. They are only really designed to be used for occasional convenience. A rechargeable shaver will do a much better job and be more cost effective in the long term.

Different Shavers, Same Performance

When looking at a range of shavers from a manufacturer you will find that within a certain range you often get the same quality of shave. Models with the same range often share common parts such as the cutting system. For example, all Braun Activators give the same shave, likewise all Philishave SmartTouch XL will give the same shave.

The price differences come in terms of additional features and overall finish. The more basic shavers within the range do not feature charge displays or possibly feature shorter running times and longer charging times if rechargeable.

Help for Sensitive Skin

Sensitive skin and shaving burn can be a major problem when considering which shaver you choose. People that suffer from shaving burn and redness around the neck area due to shaving do so for a number of reasons. Many younger users suffer because their skin can still be quite soft and flexible. The flexibility of the skin causes the foil or cutter head to bunch up the skin as it passes over and cause excessive levels of friction. If this sounds like your situation or you suffer in general regardless of age an easy thing to do is look at the way you shave.

During shaving you may want to move your head about in order to best gently stretch/tighten the area of skin you are shaving. Using your free hand to lightly pull the skin in order to tighten the surface you are shaving may also come in useful. Shaving the same area from a couple of different angles is often needed to give a clean finish.

An easy way to improve any shave is by using a small amount of pre-shave oil or powder. If you think it sounds messy, don't be put off, it isn't. Most of the shaving oil is in fact a skin conditioner that will rub into the skin and should not leave an awkward residue after shaving, although it is easy to rinse your face after shaving if you wish. With the pre-shave powder stick you just need to make sure you keep the cutting assembly clean after each use. The benefits should more than outweigh any extra time taken!
