Click to Submit a Customer Review...Rubber side panels detached, wychwoods - 13th September 2009
In response to Alan Edgar in June 2008, I have the Remington MS3-2700 which does a great job shaving, but has the same fault he described with the rubber side panels falling off.
Looking closer, it is because the rubber has expanded and no longer fits inside the indents in the casing.
I have put up with the situation for a year or so, but now I realise there is a 2-year warranty, I'll contact Remington to see what they offer.

fantastic results, paul hollands - 24th June 2009
when i brought this shaver i was doubtful about the claims that were made but boy was i wrong. i get a close comfortable shave and trim up. i think this is the best shaver i have ever had, and ive had a lot that i could not get on with.
Bad, alan cole - 23rd June 2009
dont buy. noisey, not very good to hold, after a couple of shaves it misses parts you have to go over and over again, the little shaver part that pops up in the middle, forget its of no use.
all in all save your money and buy a better make,i wish i had. ive had this shaver just over 2 weeks and only used it 3 times, shavers uk good service

awful!!, stubbly - 21st June 2009
I bought this cos my old Phillips rotary was playing up.
Great service from shavers.co.
As far performance of my new ms5800 shaver- it delivers badly on all fronts - uncomfortable to use, takes about 10 minutes to achieve a 'bad' shave, the small 'pop-up' trimming foil is useless............my advice is do not buy this awful shaver at any price.

Shaves well but noisy, Adrian Murray-Leslie - 18th June 2009
I guess that a foil shave will always be noisier than a rotary and I don't know if the Remmington is noisier than other foils. Having changed from a rotary it was quite noticeable.
That said, first shave was very satisfactory when measured against my 15+ year old Philshave Tracer which had never had new cutters. No competition I guess. Instructions a bit hard to understand at times. Prompt delivery.

What A Shaver!!!!, Adrian - 14th June 2009
Its credit crunch time and im fed up of paying £4 or more on wet shavers so thought it was time to get me an electric shaver. So typed in electric shavers in to dear old yahoo and up pops shavers.co.uk, so i had a good look around the site and came across this Remington on special offer.

Now for the shaver wow what a shave its better than a wet shave!! I use it with the pre shave stick from M & M cosmetics which leaves my skin smooth and no irritation. So to sum up A fantastic shaver and a fantastic web site.

Excellant service from this company would recommend them to anyone
Remington MS5800, Danny Carter - 24th May 2009
I don't like it, but the price and speedy delivery were faultless. It's too fiddly with a head that is difficult to reattach. Also you can't get a straight cutting line on the face with the foils only because on one side the mini foil is in the way and on the other the trimmer is in the way. It does shave close though if used with talc. I'm sure there are better models on the market though.
Great service from Shavers.co.uk, Nick C - 23rd April 2009
I bought this shaver last May. For £50 it is perfectly reasonable and considerably better than the Phillips Arcitec that I purchased 3 months earlier for twice the price (annoyingly not through shavers.co.uk).
Unfortunately I had cause to return the shaver this week since it suddenly refused to retain any charge and thus would only work (perfectly well) from the mains only. I contacted...

I cannot praise them enough for such extraordinary service. The shaver may be fair to good but the service of shavers.co.uk is excellent. Thanks a bunch. I'll definitely look to them before considering anyone else when looking for my next shaver.

WONDERING WHAT TO BUY THEN YOU MUST READ ON, carl unsworth.. yorkshire - 7th April 2009
Dont know where to start so I will start at the begining. I am now 35. At the age of 12 I started getting long hairs on my top lip and chin so I started shaving very carefully with a wet razor.
I then got a Sharp electric shaver as a gift and all it seem to do was make my face red and sore, so i stayed with wet shaving. My beard grows in all directions and I have had nothing but problems (lumps, ...
Click to Read More >bumps, nicks, ingrowing hair and lots of razor burn).
I then got a Phillips rotary at the age of 20 and again it made my face red and sore and not a very close shave so back to the wet razor and the burn and pain. Last August I bought a Phillips cool skin shaver for £70 and I can say I was not inpressed. To get a close shave in meant going over and over the hard to reach places like the neck and under the chin and the cool skin lotion made my face come out in a red rash.
Then it broke, one of the foils split. I spent another £30 getting another, then last week (April 09) the head broke again. So I looked here and found this Remington. I read the review's and thought I would take a chance on a foil shaver (it couldn't be any worse than the Phillips)
I ordered it first thing on friday 3rd April 09 standard first class postage and I got it today Tuesday 7th Aprill 09. I have just had the best shave I have EVER had since the age of 12. It says you should charge it for 24 hours but I couldn't wait.
I left it charging for an hour and then sterted. It took 14 mins to get rid of 5 days growth to smooth and I mean smooth!! No stubble anywhere not even on the neck or under the chin and most of all no burn or redness its fantastic even on the adam's apple a cant find any hair that it has missed.
I should have got this last year instead of the Phillips. It cost less and the spare heds and cutters are half the price. So like I said if you are like me and had a life of painfull shaving then GET one of these. Its like being in shaving heaven. Thank you very much to Shavers.co.uk you have made me very happy.

Great performance and great service., Tony Graham - 23rd March 2009
Have used several of Remington shavers in my time. This one lives up to what it says on the box.
I have not used the Shavers company before but I have been very impressed with the service and the price. I ordered Wed afternoon, I decided not to use the express delivery at extra cost, I received the shaver Friday morning 8am.
Well done!

Excellent shave, highly recommended, Tim - 13th March 2009
Firstly, hats off to Shavers.co.uk for outstanding customer service (as always).
When my ancient Remington was finally beyond repair, I read the reviews on this site and purchased a Philishave HQ8160. It arrived the next day and, although blue, shiny, lightweight and highly recommended, was COMPLETELY USELESS.
I lived with it for a week in the hope that things would improve but...
Click to Read More > with shaving taking about 25 minutes and the results very poor I contacted customer service and not only did they replace it with a new Remington, they refunded the difference.
This shaver is excellent. It's reassuringly weighty and does an excellent job in about 10 minutes. My only complaint would be the noise (hence the 9/10), but from experience I think it's a feature of Remingtons. The small pop up foil is ideal for getting into awkward spots and the other 2 foils whip off thick stubble in double quick time.
My advice would be, if you're used to Remingtons don't bother looking at other brands. This is an excellent shaver at an excellent price. Did I mention customer service?

Rocks, Graeme - 17th February 2009
Way better than my £150 Philips cool shave. Less scratches and it does more.
Judge as you find, Peter C H - 17th February 2009
Having used a rotary shaver for 25 years I was concerned about making the change - this was not a problem and within a few days I was getting a better shave than I had had for years. Fantastic price and quick delivery was more than enough to make me happy. On the downside I find the razor a bit cumbersome to handle but that will improve with practice.
Great Performance, Dr Jim - 4th February 2009
Best razor I have ever had! Fairly close shave, absolutely no razor burn, good battery life, easy to clean. Didn't give it 10 points because it's noisy. Vastly better than Braun.
Great shaver, great service, Rob - 16th January 2009
This shaver is not only a thing of beauty but it does a great job too. I've been shaving for over 35 years (all foil shavers apart from an early flirtation with wet shaving as a youth) and this is my best shaver yet.
Just before Christmas I thought I'd try a rotary (Philips) for a change. It cost more than double this shaver but didn't shave anything like as close: I had to finish each shave...
Click to Read More > using either a Bic razor or my old Remington MS2391. It also left my face marked and even had a tendency to pull the bristles above my top lip. Ouch. Back it went after Christmas and for less than half the refund I purchased the MS5800 from shaver.co.uk. Really happy with it and the service from shaver.co.uk.
Only one small gripe...the manual can't be serious when it says up to 3 weeks shaving from a single charge (i.e. 60mins shaving time). Is it just me or can anyone else shave their face in less than 5mins?

Welcome back!, Eric - 4th December 2008
Such bliss to be back with my favourite shaver model ever. Such bliss to get shot of the Braun rubbish I have had to thole for the past three years. Welcome back, Remington, and this shaver in particular. And so good to be dealing with Shavers.co.uk again - they never let you down. (It wasn't their fault that the Braun wa such rubbish!)
The best ever, PNG - 22nd November 2008
I have used Remington razors for over 20 years. They are by far the best of the lot, and have been for many years. This model is so much better than its predecessors (that were very good in their own right) that I would not have thought that it was possible to improve a razor so much. It has exceded all my expectations.

Disappointing, Nigel, Lancaster - 29th October 2008
Can't fault the service of Shavers UK but the shaver itself has been something of a let down. After 12 months, three sets of foils and two sets of blades I am getting a very poor shave and have had to decide whether to spend more money on replacements or in fact call it a day and buy a new shaver.

Shaver is quite poor, WR - 8th October 2008
Having swapped to Remington from Braun 10 years ago Ive been relatively happy with my previous Remingtons, so when the battery went in my last Remington 4843 I decided to get the nearest current replacement.
Unfortunately the 5800 has proved to be a big disappointment. The cutters are poor (my 3 year old 4843 still seems sharper and shaves better) and the extra third mini cutter means the sha...
Click to Read More >ving head is now too large and cumbersome to get under your nose etc. Furthermore that mini pop up cutter at the back is utterly useless as the blades don’t actually get near enough to the foil to do any cutting!
It takes 15 minutes to get an acceptable shave and even then it’s inferior to a 3 minute shave with the old 4843.
There are a couple of minor niggles I feel I should point out as well – the shaver is 12v, meaning you need to carry around the bulky charger (which doesn’t fit well into angled shaving adapters in some hotels) and the pop up trimmer is too short. I certainly cant see myself rushing to by another Remington.

Dire, Peter H - 12th September 2008
I have been a Remington user for many years but this must be the worst small electrical product I have ever purchased. The design is poor - very noisy, cutter heads drop out every time the shaver is cleaned, efficiency of cut deteriorates rapidly after full charge and the rubber grip started to come off the shaver within 12 months of purchase. I cannot believe this came from the same design team which has...

After 40+ years of wet shaves I have started on Warfarin tablets and have to take care re cuts etc. After searching the net, reading reviews etc. the best average comments pointed me towards the Remington MS5800 Titanium Washable Shaver for closeness of shave, comfort to use and good spec for the price. This is my third Remington razor since February 2004. My first purchase was an RS8986 which cost £127 and within eighteen months the rubbers on the side panels had both become detached. The razor was replaced by Remington for an MS3 2700 model, under guarantee in July'05. This unit has also parted company with the rubber side panels and also the front rubber facing. None of the razors were in conta...

I bought this shaver to replace my much loved Microscreen 3 which died. It feels good in the hand & gives a nice close shave & the service given by Shavers.co.uk was second to none. Btw the small brush is inside the case,I thought mine was missing at first.

I was very surprised to read other comments stating that it was as close as a wet shave but I think it comes very close and much better than the Braun foil shaver it replaced

Shaver feels a little bulky in the hand and generally needs at least 5 mins for a shave to feel anywhere near close enough. The small foil is great theoretically for the top lip but in practice is a let down. Its easy to clean although I did not receive the brush so use an old one.

Shaver arrived well packed and promptly. Very pleased with it as it gives a good clean shave in three minutes.(not bad for a silver surfer). Pleasantly surprised to see that it has NiMH battery, so can be "topped up" without any memory problems.

I thought this was an excellent purchase initially. Great price. Great performance. But I have now had my razor two months and it performs nothing like any of my previous Remington razors I have had over the last 25 years. The cut is poor. The accuracy is not too good. Unless using with a full charge it seems to "run" slow so I now use while plugged in. I am lucky that my face is still pretty smooth but I hate to imagine how poor the finish would be if I had a craggy face.
Good product arrived quickly, Geoff, Nottingham - 6th February 2008
I started electric shaving years ago with a Braun, then a Panasonic. Then when it finally packed up and was uneconomical to repair, I went on to try wet shaving for a few years. If you like to have a quick shave again in the evening you just can't with a wet shave, you have to take your time. I decided to try this Remington as it had very good reviews for the price.

So it's great for the main shave of the day and for quick top ups later on. The best price I found on internet and great service from shavers.co.uk

Very disappointed!, John V - 30th January 2008
I have to admit to being very disappointed with this shaver. I can only assume that other people have reviewed this after just buying it but believe me after 4 months Its a different story. The shaver does give an extreamly close shave but the build quality is rubbish. After you have got over the initial excitement about the bargain price you soon know that this is not at all like your previous Remington. A...

Excellent service, Kevin Read - 16th January 2008
I placed my order on 10th January and the shaver was delivered to me at 7.30 am the next morning, thats what I call service !
The MS5800 is a very good shaver, I had recently bought a Philips Philishave and it is the worst shaver I have ever had and a complete waste of £138.00. The Remington shaver gives a very close shave and the price is excellent, I would throughly recommend it.

Well, I used to use this shaver for about two months. The shaver does a good job, but I had to correct the little mistakes with wet shaver. Especially on my neck.
This shaver is washable. It was. After two months the shaver got wet inside and now I cant use it at all. Broken... ( I was really gently with the washing)

Great Shaver with one drawback., Gagen - 6th January 2008
It does a very good shave but it has one problem. It does not shave properly beneath the chin. Always leaves sum hair there. My mate tried it on too but he had the same result. Either it was one off which was not working properly. I would say not a worth buy!!!!
Like a wet shave, sawfish - 30th November 2007
This shaver is brilliant. As close as a wet shave. A bit noisy but so what.
One thing you might notice is the fact that it takes several charges before you get the full 60 minutes shaving. I like the looks too and its remarkably good at getting into all the bits on your face despite being quite a large brute.
I dont quite understand the people who are saying it doesn't go close.

I had been thinking of going back to dry shaving every day (as I tended to shave once a week). I suffered from terrible acne when I was younger and my skin is quite sensitive, so shaving can be painful afterwards.

Click to Read More >nd the rotary shavers (like those from Philips) made my skin very sore. So I bought the Remington and it arrived next day (even though I ordered after the cut off time), but I never received any notice it had been shipped (and therefore there might not have been anyone home to accept delivery).
The shaver arrived fully charged (which was nice) and is very easy to use, although it is very noisy (no quiet shaves for you).
I first tried it with King of Shaves, but it just made the hairs too oily and the shaver had problems picking up the hairs, I ended up with a not-so-close shave and a very sore face!!!
I then tried the Pre-Shave Talc Stick, this was much better, I had a closer shave, but it still did not cut all the hairs, plus the shaver got gunked up with the talc (and took a while to clean).
I then tried just washing my face with warm water and patting it dry (which I had done before applying the other products), and then just shaving. This actually resulted in a much closer shave. This was possible by turning the shaver round and shaving up the neck and face to ensure the hairs were caught, but I still had to shave quite hard to get close enough.
My face still ended up being sore, but it was fine next day (other ways tended to make my face sore for 2 or 3 days).
The thing you have to realise is that not everyones face is the same.
The shaver is good, but I have come to the conclusion that wet shaving is faster and closer than any other method.
I'd recommend saving up your money and having laser removal, then you'll never have to shave again!

I searched the web looking at shavers and thought this had the best reviews. After using a small cheap foil,I reckond this would be best for me. I was very dissapointed on trying it out.

Awful gimmicky razor, Q Mullins - 4th October 2007
I have been using a remington shaver for the last 4 years and am very happy with the performance so when I saw this shaver and the good reviews I was sold.

Quick delivery. The best shave ever!, Robert - 26th September 2007
It arrived the next morning! A great shaver (much better than the older version Remi Titanium I replaced). Couldn't recommend the shaver or the site more - and a real bargain at the price!
Great service, Sid - 22nd September 2007
Ordered late Wednesday evening. Arrived before 09:00 on the Friday. Excellent price and service. Would recommend website to friends.
Superb, Mad Mick - 20th September 2007
I reviewed many web sites looking for a good electric shaver, not a rotary tear your beard out but a superior foil, the reviews posted on here persuaded me. I logged on yesterday lunchtime, ordered the MS5700 as recommended, It came standard delivery 07:00hrs this morning, fully charged and a delight to use.

This is my second Remington. I used one nearly 20 years ago at Uni and loved it. It eventually wore out so I moved on to wet shaving. I later tried a Phillips rotary shaver (10 years or so ago), but disliked it intensely (cuts, rashes and a poor shave).
Recently, I felt that wet shaving was begining to take too long in the morning. I'd started to suffer from rashes and cuts, so I thought I'd ...
Click to Read More >give electric shaving another crack. Based on the theory that my old Remington had been almost as close as wet shaving, I figured that a newer model should be at least as good...
It is. By the second day of use I was approaching wet shave closeness, and no red rashes or nicks.
It's a formidable looking beast (much more impressive in reality than the pictures suggest): A bank of flexing foils and trimmers are stacked up like the business end of a combine harvester. It's heavy, yet easy to control. The ergonomic design allows it to move nimbly in the hand, and effective cutting is possible without pushing the foils hard into the skin.
The construction is excellent and very solid. The Chromed area is plastic, but doesn't look cheap, and the grey area is made from a high quality rubber. It all looks very masculine and impressive: Definitely the sort of engineered grooming tool you'd expect to see in a 1950's high class American Barbour shop!
It's noisy, but a good shave doesn't take too long. It's extremely fast at charging and cleaning is simple. The short but detailed manual is essential reading if you want to get the best out of this superb machine.
As a long term wet shaver, I'd struggle to justify (or understand) spending more on a high end Braun or Phillips while this still exists in the market. It gives a great shave, it's as solid as the Brooklyn Bridge and it looks like an American design classic! What more could you ask for?

Highly recommended, Eric Hardy - 8th September 2007
I have previously used Phillips rotary and Braun foil shavers. I felt that I wasn't getting the performance I required from either of these so I decided to read some reviews. The glowing reports on this particular site of this particular shaver made me decide to try out this model. Firstly, top marks to the supplier. I received two confirmatory emails within minutes of ordering and the razor was in my hands...

I can't fault Shavers service, it was excellent. However, the jury is still out on the shaver. Perhaps I'm not cut out to dry use an electric razor, as I have reverted to wet shaveing and may well keep the Remington for travel.
Excellent shaver, Paul - 6th September 2007
The closest shave from an electric that I've had and comfortable too - very impressed. Prior to this I was using a Panasonic es8043 for the initial cut and a Sherna for finishing. Also tried numerous philips rotaries and a braun activator 8590, but this knocks them all into a cocked hat and at a great price too.
What have they done ?, David Bowen - 2nd September 2007
This is my first Remington. I bought this on customer recomendations. They were right, it is a remarkable design achievement, and quite the best electric shaver I have had, by any measure.

Excellent product and service, Steve Darby - 24th August 2007
I ordered my Remington Tuesday night and was shaving with it Thursday morning. My beard runs different ways so I have had many different shavers. Wet is smoothest, foil is best of the electrics but noisy, Rotary was very quiet with good battery life but not as close for shaving.

I have been struggling for over a year or so now to get a close, comfortable shave and have tried various formulas and shavers. I have been using a Panasonic ES8162 for about 2 years and was for a period, delighted however I've been experiencing poor shaves, soreness (never before) and more recently small nicks and cuts.
I changed the foil and cutters and things improved but after a few days back...

The shave (with KoS silicon oil) is exceptionally close, smooth with no irritation or nicks. The shaver is well made, keenly priced (amazing really) and really easy to handle. I find the performance overall to be just what I'm looking for and thoroughly reccommend it to anyone who has sensitive skin or who's beard growth seems to have changed the years!

Excellent Buy, Andrew - 19th April 2007
Just received this shaver yesterday and used it today. It is well-designed, nestles comfortably into the palm with all operating controls readily accessible by either hand. I got a fine shave without cuts or abrasions which was the bane of my open shavers. As to longevity - well, I'll have to wait and see; my previous Braun lasted 8 years but going by this one's solid construction may well surpass that period. I also like the usable time left displayed - a thoughtful touch.

Remington advises to use shaving oil on my skin before shaving with it, so I did and hey presto - the closest shave I've ever had from an electric with no irritation.
The titanium foils and the intercept trimmer really worked well in capturing everything underneath it, and in conjunction with the oil it left my skin very soft and supple with no missed bits, even on my neck.
I was also very impressed with the build quality of this, it's quite a bit better than the other brands I've tried. I particularly liked the LCD screen and the metal casing with rubber grip, it looks great and is very comfortable to hold and use. The only downside is that it is very loud as it has a very powerful motor, but that didn't really bother me too much.
All in all a great buy and a great electric shaver for someone who experiences a lot of irritation when shaving.
