Coolskin...its a great name for a shaver and is quite an accurate description!

It leaves the skin feeling 'cool', 'refreshed' and 'smooth'. It is a great system in the way the Nivea cream is released onto the skin as you shave. This latest version of the Coolskin shaver is a vast improvement. The new style Philishave head unit design lends itself perfectly to the Coolskin Shaver. I used to have one of original Coolskin shavers and although it was good I found distribution of the cream wasn't great and cleaning the head unit was always tricky. The heads clogged up very easily with the combination of the cream and hair. However with this new shaving head system these problems are eliminated. The cream is channeled through the centre of the cutting heads for even distribution while shaving and the head unit is very 'open' in terms of water can flow though the heads very well when cleaning. What I do is un-clip the head unit from the body of the shaver and rinse the head unit under the shower head unit. This flushes away any build up of the cream.

In terms of the actual shave it is very good and again an improvement on the older Coolskins. The design of the head and body unit make the shaver very easy to use and very comfortable. The shaver is very light to use against the skin. The new head unit glides across the skin and adjusts to the contours of the face with great responsiveness. It really feels like the heads almost 'hug' the skin it gets that close. When this is linked to the moisturising cream it means the shaving interface is slightly lubricated and means the heads can skate across the skin, shaving close without any irritation.

If you have used Coolskin previously and are a little wary of the new look Coolskin then don't be. This new range is an evolution of the Coolskin shaver and one which builds on the basic advantages of the Coolskin to form a far superior shaver.

Very impressed with the quality and closeness of the shave from this shaver - miles better than my previous Philips shavers. The coolskin stuff seems to work well too. As for someone else's criticism about having to change the shave head to trim your sideburns - it really isn't a problem, as is far from time consuming. The only downside I would say is that, when travelling, you will need to take a small charging base as well as the cable.

I have had the two previous versions of this coolskin shaver, and have been very satisfied with the results. Unfortunately I have had nothing but problems with this version. I have a permanent rash, it doesn't seem to cut the hairs evenly so you are always left with one or two uncut hairs, which irritate during the day and the lotion irritates my skin, so Philips thumbs down for this one, go back to the laboratory and start again, I am now looking for an alternative!!!

If you buy the lotion three pack from shavers.co.uk it works out about the same as the old cartridges, plus it should last longer (and it comes with a replacement lotion cover for the shaver which needs replacing periodically). I'm a good test for a shaver as i have sensitive skin with fast-growing bristles that have the consistency of wire. If I'm happy (and I am), then anyone else with a normal beard and skin will be amazed. Very highly recommended!

I recently had to renew my old coolskin shaver after 5 years service using same shaver heads without complaint: Unfortunately after dropping the shaver onto hard floor one of the rechargable batteries burst and damaged the recharge coil.

Looking at some other peoples reviews the only conclusion i can come to after using it myself is they're not using it properly.

I get a little neck rash but i think that's down to me more than the shaver, if you use the conditioner it helps.

Of course you going to have to go over the same area a few times, it's an electric shaver what do you expect, for every hair to be ripped out of...

Just used my 8060 for the 1st time and am very impressed, not a hint of razor burn and once the balm is spread over the beard its a very smooth and comfortable close shave.

I have bought and used numerous electric razors over the years and have always returned to wet shaving, i think i may have finally found the perfect electric razor.

Just to add......the 6 pack of nivea balm from shavers.co.uk looks to be just about the cheapest i can find, and its free P&P

I found the shaver smooth to begin with but found heads became blocked easily. The refills are expensive including packaging it costs almost £30 for three.

Finally the shaver ground to a halt after three months charged but would not operate, it is now in the box ready for the dustbin.

Have always used blades. Have tried electric shavers before but always left with 'burnt' skin. coolskin shaver changed all this so no more blades for me. Leaves skin soft and smooth.

The particular problems I have had are:

1. Bad neck rash;
2. It misses hairs which means you have to go over the same area many times;
3. Very little control of where you're actually shaving because the triple rotary heads are quite far apart and also quite large;
4. It is a real pain doing your sideburns as you have to remove the shaver unit and replace it with the side...

This is the third electric shaver I have tried, and each and every one hasn't worked out, so after wasting rather a lot of money it is back to the more time consuming business of wet shaving for me which seems to be the only thing that works for me. I never liked electric shavers having owned a braun which couldn't match my gilette mach3. Browsing through the net I noticed this coolskin shaver at a good price so thought I would give it a try.

The first shock was it was delivered the next day, second shock this shaver is brilliant, can't fault it. Great shave as good as any wet shaver and leaves your skin feeling nice and fresh and great service from shavers.co.uk.

For the past 4 years i was using a Braun FreeGlider. I bought it because of the lotion it dispensed but it was awful and left a rash on my neck. I finally decided to upgrade to this Philips shaver. Its fantastic. The nivea cream comes out well and you get a great shave from it without getting a rash. Having the shaving stand makes filling and charging the shaver much easier.

The reviews of products and advice (and prices!) were really helpful - even though I knew I wanted something similar, it was still good to see the various options available.

On first impressions the shaver is really good - giving a very close and smooth shave. The new head arrangement seems to give you better overall contact with the contours of your face and neck than my old model. The lotion dispenser is also inmproved -the shaver pumps the right amount onto two of the shaver heads, so you don't need to pump the lotion out and then shave that bit next (lazy I know!!) Cleaning the shaver is also much improved given the new open design. The shaver itself is also lightweight and looks the part on the bathroom window sill!

I can't decide whether or not the docking station was worth the additional step-up. Personally I don't have a shaver plug in my bathroom so I have to plug the shaver in to charge in a bedroom - so the concept of the unit always being fully charged with power and lotion is a bit lost. That said, it charges quickly and you know you've got the right amount of lotion in the shaver - I think I'll use it on as and when needed basis. The unit is also quite chunky, so if you're stuck for space it may not be for you (whilst a separate standalone charger is also included for travel - using this exclusively seems to defeat the object of paying the additional money for the step up in models).

Having used the 'Cool Skin' razors over the last 5-6 years, I am a big fan of Philishave razors with that wet shave type of use. I have owned the Philips Philishave HQ7782 Coolskin Shaver and thought it was v.good.

This razor however is even better, it provides an even closer shave than the [original] 'cool skin' razors. The docking station is also very cool and removes the whole coolskin sachets...
