The Braun Clean & Renew system and Braun CCR3 refill cartridges enable you to keep your electric shaver up to scratch after every shave with virtually no effort! There are other ways you can clean your electric shaver such as rinsing the shaver head under a running tap. However, this method will not eliminate germs, bacteria and debris as effectively as the Braun Clean & Renew system or be as simple to perform.
Braun has been in business of producing self cleaning shavers for many years. In fact, their design was the first popular range of self cleaning shavers to be adopted by UK consumers and seemingly the inspiration for other manufacturers to develop similar offerings.
However, Braun’s head start has allowed them to iterate their design more times than the competition, arriving at today’s well evolved product, benefiting from the expertise and feedback from the versions that came before it. Braun’s design utilises a single multi-function device, the Clean & Renew system. The clue is in the name, but simply, once the shaver is inserted into the stand following your morning shave, it will fire into action; first cleaning and then drying the shaver’s cutting assembly before diligently bringing the shaver back to full charge. Combined, this ensures your Braun shaver is always ready for action and every shave is as good as your first.
The level of clean is not to be under-estimated. Braun are the only brand using alcohol-based cleaning fluid which eliminates 99.999% of all germs and bacteria in every cleaning process. To ensure the refill cartridge that holds the fluid is most effective when cleaning, you will need to replace it around 4 to 6 times a year.

When to Replace a Clean & Renew Cartridge
Replacing the cartridge has never been easier and the Clean & Renew system tells you when you need to. When you notice that the level indicator has turned red, this tells you that the remaining fluid in the old cartridge is sufficient for approximately five more cycles. When the level indicator then blinks red, the cartridge needs to be replaced as soon as possible.
How to Replace a Clean & Renew Cartridge
1. Open the Cleaning Centre by pressing the lift button. Wait for a couple seconds before removing the used cartridge to avoid any dripping.
2. Carefully remove the empty cartridge from the Cleaning Centre.
3. Open the new refill cartridge and use this lid to close the empty one. You are then able to easily dispose of the empty refill in normal waste or plastic recycling. This does not require any special disposal method.
4. Lastly, carefully insert the new full cartridge into the Cleaning Centre and you’re good to go for a while longer.
