Three distinct foil patterns work in combination to capture and cut even the difficult parts of your beard.
The sensor determines differences in beard density at different locations, and power is controlled to provide powerful cutting where your beard is heavy and soft cutting where it is thin.
This reduces the burden on your skin for optimum shaving results.
The cutting edge of the inner blades is an acute 30°to enable them to cut the hair at its base for an incredibly close shave. Honed with nano level precision to be as sharp as possible, the blades are driven by a high-speed linear motor to maximize their cutting ability. As a result, they cut smoothly through the toughest beards.
The blades are slightly arched lengthwise so they come into close, comfortable contact even where it is soft. They ensure a clean shave under your chin where it is easy to miss whiskers. The forged blades are made of tempered, stainless cutlery steel that is strongly resistant to abrasion.
Conforms to neck and jaw area. The head is extremely mobile and comes into close, light contact with uneven areas of your skin. This minimizes the burden on your skin while assuring thorough cutting of all kinds of beards.
The linear motor Panasonic especially developed for shavers ensures there is no loss of power and no whiskers are missed, even when shaving heavy beards. A rapid linear motor drive delivers a smooth, clean shave at 14,000 cycles per minute.

The Panasonic Arc 5 is much lighter than my Braun 9 and in comparison there is little difference between the two. If anything then I would say the Arc 5 has the edge over the Braun 9. However, the where the Braun 9 takes about 5-6 minutes to get a 2 day growth done you are looking at 10 minutes for the Arc 5. The reason I believe is because of the weight difference between the two. I love the Braun 9 and I have to say the same about the Arc 5 but it's difficult to choose between to two. If I'm in a mad rush then the Braun 9 wins hands down and on the other hand the Arc 5 does when I'm being care free! The Arc 5 is a closer shave but each one does have its own benefits!
After reading many good reviews I’ve been left a bit disappointed with this shaver. Whilst it performed very good initially I was surprised that after 3-4 months the quality of shave got worse and worse . Given the cost id expect the blades to last a lot longer . Think I’d go with a Phillips or Braun next time around
My previous electric shaver was a Braun series 9 and this is far better in everyway. The floating head makes shaving the neck area very easy to get a smooth shave and feels comfortable to use in the hand. The cleaning station is better than the Braun one as well, more compact, and more economical.
