The styptic “match” is a single-use alternative to the styptic pencil, which has long been used as a means of stopping bleeding from shaving nicks.
Cut your face while shaving? Apply one of these instead of turning your face into patchwork of toilet paper bits. Here’s how: Just snap off one of the matches, run some water over it, and rub the match head gently over the cut (after having washed and dried your face of course). The antiseptic blotting agent will stop bleeding, sterilize the cut, and close the wound. It might sting a little bit, but it definitely gets the job done.
