Bought this shaver after reading the glowing reviews. It replaced an old Braun 7570 shaver.
The LF71 feels like a quality item and does give a nice close shave but comparing it with my old Braun, the latter seemed to have more plus points:
It could be used off the mains when the battery was flat - the Panasonic can't.
2. The Braun shaver, old that it was, would tell you when it needed cleaning or oil - the LF71 does not.
3. Fitting cleaning cartridges to the old Braun unit was easy and the unit told you when it needed a new one - the LF71 has a more complicated system where you fit a little cleaning pad and then have to add your own water which is rather fiddly and, to be honest, the shaver doesn't seem to come out that clean or smelling that fresh.
4. The trimmer on the LF71 seems very weedy compared to that on my old Braun.
The LF71 does have some plus points; very close shave plus it can be used wet (unlike the Braun).
So, the LF71 isn't a bad shaver but I was expecting it to be more advanced than my 10 year old Braun when in reality, the old Braun and its cleaning unit were more advanced and certainly more user friendly than the Panasonic.
You can guess which brand I will be going back to next time.
Whilst the shaver gives a good cut and fast and operates well, please be under no illusion that its waterproof qualities will last long!
Mine lasted just over the year and was replaced by Shavers.co.uk at no cost to me. thank you Shavers UK.
The replacement lasted 18 months and failed due to water ingress. I suggest that the wet/dry description should be taken with a pinch of salt and a large dose of disappointment.
Not a cheap razor, disappointing, won't buy another!
I bought this shaver because the old one I had need a replacement shaver foil and the prices for them were so expensive.
The old shaver was four years old, and so I decided on purchasing new instead of refreshing.
I have had most of the shavers biggest brands; Braun, Philips and Panasonic.
The last shaver was also Panasonic but the ES-LF71 is the best is gentle and fast. I am very happy with this shaver.
