Great product and great performance, however there was NO lubricant in the box as was described and ive had to resort into ordering some. Other than that great store and prompt delivery but i still want my lubricant !!
If you have shaved your head with the Balding Clipper,this is your upgrade. Sharper,smaller,lighter... to enjoy through and through.
I bought the Detailer from Shavers.co.uk in April 09 (six months ago). The price was the best anywhere, and the service was very smooth. The website was easy to use and the goods arrived next working day. Will definitely use Shavers.co.uk again in the future.
First thing to say is that the Detailer is smaller than you might imagine from the photos, so check the dimensions on a ruler. If you want to shave large areas, the Wahl Balding clipper might be more appropriate.
For me it was the perfect size though as I use it to shave my face and neck 2-3 times a week. It cuts quickly and cleanly with little effort and leaves super sharp edges. I have not had any nicks or cuts in six months of use. The rotary motor does not get bogged down like other trimmers I've owned. Although it may cost a little more than 'home' trimmers, the pro quality easily justifies it, IMO.
The cut is very close, leaving only about the same as a day's growth. This makes the detailer perfect preparation before shaving when going from stubble or a beard. For those of us who like to alternate between beard/stubble and a clean-shave, the detailer solves the old problem of the wet razor clogging, or the dry shaver being overloaded by longer stubble. Worth the purchase price for this benefit alone.
The electric lead has a power-supply 'block' plug and so you can't snip it off and fit a shaver plug to use from your bathroom shaver point as I has hoped. However that's not an issue for professional users, and the lead is also generously long which helps a lot. Personally, I always prefer mains powered to rechargeable.
An advantage over the Balding clipper is that you get graded combs with the Detailer. Mine has #1/2, #1, and #1-1/2 which is different to the product description here, so that might be worth clarifying if the longer grades are important to you. The combs are a noisy, rattly fit in use, but they don't fall off.
The blade adjustment tool (which I haven't needed to use) plus usual accessories and hard plastic case make this a comprehensive kit and excellent value for money. Recommended!
