This is an excellent shaver and considerably better that the Series 7 that I have used for some time. The usual efficient service from Shavers, and prompt delivery.
Firstly, I am the sort of moaning man who rarely posts reviews about anything and when its do its invariably because I have something to grumble about. Not in this case. I have been shaving over 25 years and for a quarter of a century I have always had ingrown hairs, bumps and irritation. Not only that, I have found the whole process a time consuming pain in the Arsenal. I have tried every method and technique of wet shaving with sensitive blades, double edge blades, five blade cartridges, three blade ones, gels, soaps, foams and oils. I've gone with the grain, across the grain, used shaving brushes, post shave balms, steroid creams, razor bump treatments and everything. I tried a Remington foil shaver years ago and only this year a series 7000 Philips rotary shaver. Nothing has worked and all of them felt like I'd used a cheese grater and left me with ingrown neck hair and razor burn. Eventually I grew a beard; it was lush, thick and my skin was fine but then I needed to wear a respirator due to COVID at work and had to be clean shaven. I found the Braun Series 9 at a good price and thought I'd try it. Its nothing short of phenomenal. I have read reviews where some people say its not the closest of shaves. I get closer with this than any other method of shaving as I can be more thorough and do not get any irritation. I do not have a single ingrown hair and I do not think you could get irritation with this shaver if you tried. Bearing in mind my neck is so sensitive I have had to get prescription steroid creams due to shaving you get how gentle yet effective this shaver is. Its features are simple, intuitive and work, its well made and easy to maintain with the cleaning station. The cartridges seem to cost about a fiver each every month or two but this keeps your shaver clean - and importantly lubricated. Based on what you'd pay for face scrapers and foam its a little money well spent. The hard leather case is good quality and you know it'll be safe and protected inside it. Did I mention how good the shave is and how little irritation it causes? When I say little irritation I mean no irritation. Somehow its has fixed my ingrown hair issue but I've no idea how. The tweezers and steroid creams have been retired. You can shave dry in about 2 minutes, bang it in the cleaning station and its like new again. I haven't even bothered trying it wet it works so well dry. Not a bit of heat comes off the head when shaving, it glides powerfully through even coarse stubble (I use it most days so its easy, but even 2nd or 3rd day growth isn't an issue for it). Well worth the money.
I have had a Series 3 Braun Razor for years, decided it was time to get a new one, liked the look of the Series 9 I know that it was a lot more expensive but I decided to treat myself. Have used the new razor a few times”WOW” I can’t believe the difference in the quality of shave, should have upgraded ages ago.
