I've had this shaver for about a year and a half now. It's quite simply the best electric shaver ive had in over 40 years of shaving. Some people say that a electric shaver can never cut as close as a manual shaver, but for my particular combination of not too sensitive skin and very tough dense bristles, it does!. I know i know I know, it won't be the same for everyone, because we've all got different combinations of skin type and bristles. But for me the only way i can get as close with a razor is by shaving with the grain, then foaming up again and shaving against the grain. But because of my skin in particular, it would be a bloodbath until my skin became accustomed to the closeness. But that would defeat the object of a quick close shave. Awesome panasonic, simply awesome.
I had been using an old 4-blade Panasonic ES8246(??) when I ordered this to replace it. I had already replaced that battery once in the old one and it needed changing again as well as a new set of foils and cutters. It was at least 11 years old so I decided to replace it completely with the LV67. It was delivered late March with great fanfare and I wrote a glowing review about how quiet it was, how well it fitted on your hand and so on. Now that I have lived with it for 6 months, I would like to update my thoughts. Yes, it is quieter than my old one, and yes it does sit well in my hand (the old one wasn’t bad either). The head is a lot freer moving with a far greater range of movement so it follows the contours of your face much better, and he 5-blade system is very sharp. All this is good, but… The 5-blade system misses more flat laying hairs than the 4-blade, and has difficulty getting them when you spot them. So I have to resort to using the beard trimmer to shorten them and then finish them off with the regular head. For some reason the front (top?) foil is not as effective as the back (bottom) foil so you end up tilting the head against the skin to get a close shave. The biggest issue I have is the size of the 5-blade head. It’s simply too big. As mobile as the head is, I find you need to tackle the same area in several directions to get a close shave otherwise it struggles to cover the jawline effectively. The ES-LV67 is a great shaver but if I was buying again, I would save some money and stick with the 4-blade system. Sometimes less is, in my opinion, more.
A longtime Braun fanatic, now a Panasonic convert. As long as i use a good quality pre shave lotion, this shaver gives me the closest electric shave ive had in over 30 years of shaving.
