I own it for about 5 years.
As you can imagine, I do not trim my beard every day. It happens every 3-5 weeks, as I like to look differently (I shave at 3mm setting, and leave my beard to grow for a few weeks).
Of course, the rechargeable battery died couple of years ago, but unlike many other cordless trimmers, WAHL can work from the mains (Philips cannot). It is a big advantage, I suppose. It is said in the manual, that the battery pack is irreplaceable by the user. I doubt it, but I did not bother to look for a replacement so far, as it still works from the adaptor.
Yes, the vac is not so effective, but my beard is very wild, and I have a shower afterwards anyway. No one mains&rechargeable trimmer has a vac, except WAHL.
The plastic trimmer guard never got loose. Good precise adjustments. It is a shame, but I oiled it no one time...
Not posh, built like a tank (in spite it is plastic), comfortable rounded shape.
Highly recommended!
I have been disappointed with this trimmer. Whilst it does an average job of trimming my beard it is not the quality item that I expected from Wahl and at this price. On the whole it looks cheap, and it is extremely noisy. The vac side is not impressive at all. The literature says it will miss around 15% of the hair trimmed. I reckon it's a bit more than that, but in any case, if you have to clean up 15% then you might as well clean up the lot.
The plastic head/comb feels very fragile and it's not easy to alter the settings without getting the feeling that it's going to snap.
I don't know how long it will last, but when I need a replacement then I will not be going back to Wahl.
Excellent
