The only significant change on the 8995 is a slightly redesigned foil. Luckily this new foil will also act as the replacement on existing Activator shavers come renewal time, essentially giving you the same shave as the new 360 Complete range from your current Activator shaver.

There is a big difference in price at the moment, but we have both Activator and 360 Complete models in stock so can help whichever way you go!

The Braun Activator is now taking over as the successor to the much acclaimed Syncro range. The original Syncro design with its automatic clean and charge system and high performance cutters is a hard act to follow, however I feel the Activator is an excellent evolution.

Generally most shavers require careful attention to detail when shaving around the neck area in order to catch all hairs. While this is still true with the Activator a new foil design offers a generous improvement. The new design is a genuine innovation and something you are surprised has only just been put to use. Instead of a foil of uniform sized holes, the Activator foil features a repeating pattern of variable shaped holes design to catch a wide range of hairs all in one stroke.

The LCD is a useful tool and provides commentary on the shavers state. It offers accurate charge level status and also keeps you informed during the cleaning process.

The Activator comes complete with the newer, more compact version of the Clean & Charge base unit. Although the ability to charge your shaver would seem commonplace, the cleaning facilities are far from conventional. By inserting the shaver into the stand you are given the chance to press a button and walk away. Come back in just over half an hour and the shaver is perfectly clean. When I say perfectly clean I'm not exaggerating, the cutting system will look like new!

The finishing quality of the shaver is also of a high standard. The Activator shaver body is all silver and combined with the LCD display of 8595 looks very sophisticated, strong and sturdy.

If you want the very best of everything available from Braun then it has to be the 8595 without question.

It is significantly better than the 7680, which is Braun's Synchro shaver - the first iteration in the clean and charge range. The foil seems to be thicker and has a friction free coating that looks like it has been chromed.

While it is far more effective than the 7680 when used on its own, King of Shaves Kinexium shaving oil really helps the shaver glide across the face. I can't shave with a blade...

While the 8595 takes longer to clean, that is because it uses a different system to dry the head. The new automatic cleaning system, has 3 different intensities chosen by the base depending on how dirty the shaver is, and actually spends less time and fluid on the cleaning process if you clean every day, which you should do as it gives you a better shave.
