Problems

I purchased this model in November 2007 and have been very pleased with the performance to date (see my comment Jan 2008), except to continue to get a good shave the need to replace the cutter more frequently than recommended.

Now experiencing a similar problem to "Superb Shave GJK Aug 07" with the chrome film just below and behind the shaver head all pitting and peeling off, possibly due to the cleaning fluid. Am I just unlucky or have other users experienced a similar problem?

Best shave I've ever had!

I'm only 19 years old and while I haven't been shaving as long as most people, It's still an annoying and cumbersome activity.

After ordering this shaver (and receiving it the next day no less) and charging it up I was still having second doubts. All those adverts on the TV boasting about how wet shaving gives you "The closest shave ever" or "The ultimate shave" even "The best a man can get" etc. Hyperbole aside it comes with downsides, like taking off more than just hair. Looking like you've just been shaved by Edward Scissorhands is not an endearing quality in razors, but they're cheaper and apart from sensitive skin there's not much I could have done.

Cut to 1 hour later in the charging cradle and just "Going with the flow" I was immediately amazed. After growing what looked like a "Santa Clause inspired" level of growth, this "razor" took it all off with amazing ease and precision. You could take the fast approach and look a little more presentable, or spend 10 minutes longer and acheive "the best shave you can get". After using this shaver there's no going back. I didn't even realise there was a trimmer for sideburns, cue an exciting "ooh" of delight when I found that out. A second later a rather trim sideburn!
As for the cleaning "thing" it does it's job pretty well, I was glad to see that it indeed does dry up the foils on the head (Tip: do not touch it immediately after! If you can feel the heat by putting the back of your hand near the foils then do not touch it. Unless you want some visible proof of your first electric shave!)

One minor caveat is the carrying case, it's quite flimsy so don't expect to carry it around in a case or on your person without it opening up. I mostly use it to keep the shaver in the upright position or to hold the tiny brush it comes with.

Also it didn't come with it's own adaptor, my fault I know, but I was sort of hoping it would come with one.

For those not accustomed to shavers (like me) I found this shaver noticeably loud, so if you want to wake up earlier than anyone in the house and have a shave, make sure the door is closed or the shower on to mask the sound. It's not a bad thing but it caught me unawares, again I am a novice at electric shaving.

Why didn't someone tell me before about what an electric razor can do? It took me this long to find a video on youtube by Chris Pirillo about shaving to jump in? For first time shaving novices to the professional "straight edged" shavers this is a fantastic product and does exactly what you expect it to do.

It shaved the time away! *couldn't resist*

It's more expensive than a disposable wet razor but it's an investment, a good one at that. No longer do I have to wait a couple of days for my skin to heal only to grow more stubble and look somewhat like a hobo. With this, just turn it on and you're done!

Top notch delivery service by shavers.co.uk, the big box took me by surprise! Nice air cushions too. An unhealthy fascination with those things you might say, childish even; but hey, I'm easily amused.

It's broken - already!

I've had Braun's for over 20 years and been delighted with their reliability. My recent 9595 Pulsonic has broken before 2 years.

Yes, inside guarantee, but short lived service very disappointing. The trap door on the trimmer no longer closes, and no, it hasn't been forced or "used" by children.

Yes, cleansing cartridge does clean, but to make it last longer, after each cycle put the "cork" back in to stop evaporation and don't use again until indicator flashes.
